No SPAM. Just helpful advice for new teachers.

This is a really important question as there are lots of companies trying to take your money for their own TEFL certificates. They will do anything to convince you (including outright lying!) that their certificate is internationally accepted and will help you to get a teaching job.

Do not be fooled by these companies!

There are no TEFL qualifications directly equivalent to the Cambridge CELTA.

The closest there is to another widely recognised TEFL certificate is the Trinity CertTESOL, which is also a respectable qualification by a credible institution.

These are the only two TEFL certificates I can recommend to anybody. Otherwise, you really do risk paying for a piece of paper that no school or country recognises.

You don’t have to take my word for it either, just look for genuine teaching job adverts at any of the major English schools and you’ll see they always require a CELTA or CertTESOL.
